Entertainer for Children with Special Needs
and Adults with Learning Difficlties

Entertainer for special needs and adults with learning diffiuclties

Everyday objects are used to create comic situations – here the Professor is having an argument with a mop!

Professor Paradox is an experienced entertainer for special needs children and adults with learning difficulties. His shows cater for a wide range of special needs audiences including learning difficulties, autism, deaf, disabled, and hearing impaired.

The clown is bewildered by the world in which he finds himself, and although he tries to make sense of it, he is frustrated by constant failure. This can be a liberating experience to people who themselves find the everyday world frustrating and difficult.

Using his unique style of slapstick and clowning Professor Paradox makes fun of himself in a way that we can all relate to:

Entertainment for special needs

Oh no, it looks like his trousers are about to fall down … classic clowning that is always funny

His hat just won’t stay on his head, he can’t seem to put his jacket on the right way round, he’s lost his spectacles again (he’s wearing them), and oh dear, did his trousers just fall down?

Dealing with the daily frustrations of failing to accomplish what he is trying to do, Professor Paradox demonstrates an almost superhuman inability to do just about anything, which can be a liberating experience for people with special needs.

The highly visual nature of slapstick comedy makes it ideal for deaf and hearing impaired children because they can see what is going on. You don’t need language to understand the joke when someone has just been whacked on the bottom by a flying walking stick, It’s funny whatever your age or ability!

Special needs entertainer

No make up, no red nose, nothing scary, not even a wig. Just a naturally funny entertainer

“To me it’s about connecting with people on a human level and accepting who they are, and enjoying the playfulness of clowning together. In all my work as a clown my objective is to make the audience feel that they are ahead of me, and that I am the butt of the joke. In this show the audience are the clever ones”.

Signing can be incorporated if necessary but the need will be minimal

“Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something”

Curricular Based Educational Shows for Special Needs Schools.

The Professor also provides educational shows that have been performed with great success at a number of special needs and mixed ability schools. Although not specifically devised for special needs schools, they are highly suitable due to their humour and visual content. Some children may not understand all of it, but they will have a great time!

You will see a lot of laughter and fun – what you will not see is a performer doing clever or complicated tricks to show how clever he is!

“We booked Professor Paradox to entertain 40 children, some of whom are on the autistic spectrum. He went down fantastically!!The children enjoyed the simplicity and the active involvement (if they wanted to). Would definitely recommend..we will be using him again..Thank you.”

“I have photographs of children’s expressions while watching you, they were so appy and lively! So many thanks, we appreciate it so much.”

“The best Children’s Entertainer we have ever had”
Musgrove Hospital Christmas Party

“It is extremely difficult is a school like ours (special school for Social Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties) to find a performer who can appeal to children from the age of nine, right up to young adults of sixteen. Mike proved that he could do that. He delivered a performance full of humour and flexible enough to involve the inevitable hecklers in our audience! Coupled with this was the actual design of the show and the metaphorical lessons to be learned from the scripts. A real and rare triumph at our school.”
Murrough McHugh, Assistant Head, Florence Brown Special School , Bristol

“Great show, lots of lovely laughter from the children – enjoyed by everyone. Many thanks.”
Sara Farr – Coordinator, Escape Support Group for Special Needs Children

“Great show. Well pitched to our very mixed character children”
